Learn how yoga and yogic philosophy are directly connected to raising a more conscious generation.

Why Children’s Yoga?

Childhood and adolescence are critical stages in life where we learn about ourselves, our communities, the world at large and how we fit into it all. Starting from birth, we learn how to process and integrate information in our physical, mental, emotional and energetic bodies based on the support that is available to us.

Becoming a children’s yoga teacher equips you with the necessary information to both understand and support the complexities of a developing brain and body from the inside, out. Explore how eastern & western philosophies & methodologies come together to promote harmony on & off the mat, inside & outside of the classroom.

Program Modules

Meet Your Teacher

“Hey y’all, I’m Lynell!”

My soul’s work is to serve as an international educator, teaching children and adults. I began my

journey at a charter school in my hometown (New Orleans) before moving to China to teach a

preschool leadership program based on Dr. Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Ef ective People. I have

worked closely with rural, indigenous communities and often travel as a volunteer to teach

English. I have spread and received teachings both far and wide – Costa Rica, Bahamas,

Chicago, New Orleans and even online with global audiences.

In China, my intimacy with the practice of yoga grew, as did my thirst for more knowledge of the

philosophy. Yoga teaches me that the self-inquiry process is ongoing. To be an effective teacher,

I must remain a student. I studied in the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat located in the

Bahamas for nearly 6 months before continuing studies in Costa Rica with Adi Shakti. I am

certified as a children’s and adult yoga instructor, with various adaptive and trauma-sensitive,

healing-informed training techniques. I am a certified SoulWorkTM facilitator and often hold

space in multicultural and multilingual settings.

I speak and practice several languages because I love connecting with others and value the input

and experiences of the people in my environment. Traveling teaches me to be humble and

appreciate the differences and similarities of people all around the world. I learn to step back

from judgments and projections and to be present with the reality of what I’m seeing, hearing,

smelling, tasting, touching right in front of me.

Thank you so much for joining me on this part of my journey and I hope to inspire yours!

Trauma Sensitive Facilitaiton

We will explore the concept of Trauma Sensitive, Healing Focused Facilitation by discussing what trauma is on an anatomical level and how this manifests in our bodies and mental states. At Soulwork, we believe that a trauma sensitive approach to Yoga is the only approach.

As we learn about the anatomical and energetic body systems, and their complexities, we are able to gain an understanding of how trauma expresses itself in young people. We discover how yoga can be extremely helpful in managing triggers so that we move from reactive to responsive states of being. We will explain cueing, behavior management and more, all from a trauma sensitive lense. Although we cannot assume or assure that anyone feels safe, we can empower them to use their voices and take affirming actions to self-regulate while co-regulating in groups.

Student love…

“You simply can’t go wrong with any of SoulWork’s offerings, they’re so nourishing to the soul. I have been searching for an authentic meditation program for awhile. Something that’s from a lineage that has roots which is actually more rare than you would assume. This was it! I feel confident and proud about sharing this medicine with others.”

- Dusah

“I have participated in several training with Soulwork and I loved them all. This course very very grounded and the knowledge was transmitted in a beautiful, loving and super clear way that was easy to understand and practice. The portion on how to teach these techniques to others was really well structured, clear and concise but also very complete  and easy to understand. I will most certainly do another course with Soulwork.”

— Piroska
